Jackson’s Flower Walk (2021)
This was our fourth Flower Walk in Jackson's memory. (For previous years’ photos, here’s 2018, 2019, and 2020.) Like 2020, we felt it safest to hold the event remotely. Here in Seattle, we visited the Woodland Park Rose Garden (where we took some wonderful photos with Jackson in 2017) - it was touching to be back there with Owen, and to watch him explore the flowers there.
What is a flower walk? When Jackson was a toddler (and an early riser), we would often go on “flower walks” around our Green Lake neighborhood to pass the time, and experience the world through Jackson’s eyes. We would smell flowers, blow on the dandelion “puffballs”, and look for bunnies along the way. It has been a very special tradition to host Jackson’s Flower Walk in his memory. We smell the flowers for Jackson, and raise money and awareness for Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood (SUDC), while performing acts of kindness in his honor.
Your love and support have meant so much to us - it's been four years since we lost Jackson, and to have you all show up with love for him makes all the difference. Thank you to our community - family, friends, neighbors, teachers, other SUDC families.
Also, through your generosity, we raised over $2,500 for the SUDC Foundation this year. We’re grateful to know that these funds will help advance SUDC support, research, and advocacy.
Thank you for showing your love and support for us this year, and for keeping Jackson close to your hearts.
